A spokesperson for China’s General Administration Customs made a press conference announcement in Beijing on Thursday claiming that export growth figures from 2020 are evidence of China’s strong economic resilience, despite challenges posed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“Last year was an extremely remarkable year. Facing the serious and complicated situation at home and abroad and the serious impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, China’s foreign trade performed much better than expected,” said Li Kouwen, Spokesperson for China’s General Administration Customs.
“China became the only major economy in the world with positive foreign trade growth. It shows the strong resilience and comprehensive competitiveness of China’s foreign trade sector,” Li added.
During the conference, Li also made remarks on China’s role as a key trade partner across a wide range of markets through the providing of COVID-19 preventative supplies, such as masks.
