Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the government to begin rolling out a coronavirus vaccine for the entire population from next week, taking part in an online meeting with ministers on Wednesday in Novo-Ogaryovo.
“I ask you to start mass vaccination of the entire population from next week and to build up a proper schedule for this,” Putin said.
Putin said that the Sputnik V vaccine’s advantage over some other COVID-19 vaccines was that it can be stored at ordinary refrigerator temperatures and transported without “any extreme unusual conditions”.
Russia began vaccinations against the coronavirus on December 5 with doctors and teachers being among the first to get the Sputnik V jab.
