At least two gorillas at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park tested positive COVID-19, as the park’s executive director Lisa Peterson confirmed on Monday. The animals have been experiencing mild symptoms.
“We suspect that the gorillas got this virus from an asymptomatic team member,” said Peterson.
On Monday, the park received the confirmed positive results from the USDA Veterinary Lab.
Peterson reassured that the infected gorillas were ‘doing okay’ as they continue to eat, drink and interact with one another.
