“The SOHR has documented, since the beginning of the current year 2021, the killing of 44 members and officers of the regime forces and the militias loyal to them, as a result of ambushes, bombings and attacks by ISIS operatives in the Syrian Badia,” the SOHR said in a report. “The organization [ISIS] lost at least 25 of its members due to Russian airstrikes and clashes.”
Heavy clashes are still ongoing in eastern Hama as government forces are working to secure the area. Over the last 24 hours, 40 Syrian and Russian airstrikes hit gatherings and equipment of ISIS in the region.
Hundreds of ISIS terrorists are hiding in the Homs desert in the heart of the central region. The terrorists are reportedly buying logistic and military supplies from US-backed fighters based in the southeastern area of al-Tanf.
The situation in the central region will not improve without decisive measures from government forces and their allies. A serious military operation should be launched to neutralize ISIS threat there once and for all.
